ZIIP Halo Review: My Thoughts and Results After 30 Days

Does This Microcurrent Device Really Work?

The Halo ZIIP and electro current crystel gel

As a skincare and beauty enthusiast, I’ve tried absolutely everything.

I was already ten steps ahead when the 10-step Korean skincare routine became popular. Serums, treatments, and facials, oh my! And while there is no magic spell to immediately transform your skin, there is the ZIIP Halo which *spoiler* will make a difference if you’re dedicated and willing.

Have you heard of microcurrent?

It is non-invasive electrotherapy to improve the overall texture and tone of your skin, provide lifting, and treat loss of elasticity.

The ZIIP Halo, a compact and convenient little device, stands out from other microcurrent facial tools by using ‘Dual Waveform’ technology; the combination of microcurrent and nanocurrent waveforms to reach deeper into the skin.

Nanocurrent boosts adenosine triphosphate - the molecular compound that helps your cells repair and replenish energy. It also stimulates the production of collagen.

Microcurrent contracts and exercises muscle tone beneath the skin. The Dual Waveform technology aims to tighten, brighten and tone.

I was very happy to try out the ZIIP Halo for myself and see if it really does treat what they say on their website:

  • Sagging jowls & loss of elasticity

  • Puffiness

  • Crows feet & smile lines

  • Age spots & pigmentation

  • Dull skin & rough skin texture

  • Uneven skin tone

ZIIP Halo Quick Facts

It’s a hand-held tool that was created by Melanie Simon. She’s an aesthetician who has worked with many celebrities. According to the website, she was 'dubbed “the Nikola Tesla of facialists,” thanks to her ability to reveal profound, untapped beauty through the power of electricity.’ She worked together with David Mason, an expert in tech and engineering, to develop the ZIIP Halo.

It has received recognition from Vogue, iF Design Awards, Harper’s Bazaar, and even Jennifer Aniston. Yes, it’s trendy. But I wanted to know if it’s effective.

*Disclaimer* There is no product you can use at home that will solve dramatic issues like burns, deformities, sudden loss of collagen due to age, etc. You must be realistic when using any kind of  skincare at home. You must also be consistent.

In my case, I was looking for a little workout for my face. My aim for the ZIIP Halo: to shape my jaw line, lift brows, and tighten the nasolabial area. I wanted to look bright and contoured!

My First Impressions of the ZIIP Halo:

Chic. Neat. Futuristic, shall I say? It’s designed with two metal spheres on a lightweight handle. It’s seamless. So much so, it took a minute to understand how it worked, but I love how there are no unnecessary additions. It’s minimal, sleek and sophisticated in design.

It’s no wonder it costs 400 USD. I can hear the collective gasps. I can also see why it has such a formidable price, after using it for a month. Let me explain.

Using the ZIIP Halo:

During my testing month, I did not switch up anything else in my skincare routine. I received no professional treatments of any kind. I already take excellent care of my skin and have good texture, so what I really wanted to know was if the ZIIP Halo would improve the overall shape of my face; a slightly drooping right side, especially at the eyebrow.

The key to starting: Follow the directions and watch a video of Melanie Simon explaining how to use it.

Once you grasp the concept, it’s very simple to follow. I also strongly recommend downloading the app to your phone. While it isn’t necessary, if you are spending that much money on a device, you would want to get every little drop of utility out of it, no? The app comes with guided treatments and preset modes designed for specific things: de-puffing eyes, contouring, zapping blemishes, brow lifting, etc.

I used the Electric Complex Gel that came in my kit. It spreads like a watery serum, and helps the device glide across your skin. The treatments last anywhere from two to twelve minutes, and are very straight-forward. Afterwards, wash off the residue gel and follow your skincare routine as usual.

Though you do feel the occasional zap, it doesn’t hurt. If it does, then you need more serum to conduct the currents. You can sometimes feel your facial muscles twitch.

I came in with a neutral mind. After my first session (the Founder’s Favorite), I was mildly impressed. I’m very familiar with products that promise instant results (I’m looking wryly at the cheap Korean products that are flooding every Tik Tok influencer’s inbox), but the Ziip really delivered.

Okay, I though to myself. Tomorrow I’ll try another treatment.

The following day, I did the brow lift and lips treatments. I went from mildly impressed to cautiously satisfied. Yes, the ZIIP Halo does seem to do what it claims.

After about two weeks of consistent use, I was really happy to see my drooping eyelid evening out. I have faithfully done the brow lift treatment every few days, and my left eyelid doesn’t get stuck folding over itself anymore. (Mixed Korean semi-hooded eyes problems. IYKYK.) It’s a big relief, to be honest.

My Final Takeaway

I never expect anything to solve all of my skincare problems. I also never expected the ZIIP Halo to make such a difference in my drooping eye lid. That is what impressed me the most.

I have permanently added the ZIIP Halo into my routine every other evening. Some days, I’ll do just one treatment, others I’ll do multiple. Don’t overdo it. Give it time. There will never be an immediate fix to major issues, but I can definitively say that it has helped lift my face. I’m working on contouring my right jaw muscle. Check in on me on social media to see if it’s working ;)

As of writing this article, I see a noticeable glow to my skin, and overall lifting, particularly around my eyes. Like I always caution, when it comes to beauty care at home, everything takes time and consistency in combination with overall health maintenance.

For me and my lifestyle, the ZIIP Halo is a perfect addition, and I’m happy to report that it has made a positive difference.
